Communication Channels

This section is used to configure additional communication channels integrated with Rox.Chat, including messenger chats and social-media group conversations.

Instagram (Custom Facebook App)

For hosted Rox.Chat Server installations, Instagram can be integrated using your own Facebook Developer App.
Below is a short summary of the process:

  1. Create a Facebook Developer App at developers.facebook.com.
  2. Link your Instagram Business Account to a Facebook Page.
  3. In the App settings, enable Messenger and go to Instagram Settings.

  4. Add your Facebook Page and generate:

    • Access Token
    • App Secret

  5. In Rox.Chat Admin Panel, go to:

    • Settings → Channels → Instagram via Facebook App
    • Click Add Channel, fill in:
      • Page Name
      • Access Token
      • App Secret
      • Verify Token (a custom string)
      • Optional: Department for routing

  6. Go back to Facebook App → Instagram Settings → Webhooks:

    • Add Callback URL (your Rox.Chat webhook endpoint)
    • Enter the same Verify Token
    • Subscribe to the messages field

  7. Submit your app for App Review, requesting:

    • instagram_manage_messages
    • instagram_basic
    • and other required permissions

After successful approval, Instagram DMs will appear in the Rox.Chat Inbox, and your agents can respond directly.
